Driving Directions to the Palmetto Dunes Resort
Hilton Head Island is situated at the southernmost tip of South Carolina, 45 miles north of Savannah, GA, and 90 miles south of Charleston, SC. The island is less than 30 minutes from Interstate 95.The closest international airport is the Savannah (GA) airport, approximately a 45-minute drive. Another option is the Charleston (SC) airport, a two-hour drive. Limited air service is available into Hilton Head Island Airport, which is approximately 15 minutes from the Palmetto Dunes Resort. Directions to 991 Inverness Village from the entrance to Palmetto Dunes
When you are about halfway on the island you will see signs for the Hilton, Palmetto Dunes and Shelter Cove (Shelter Cove will be on the right). At that next light you need to get in the left lane and turn left into Palmetto Dunes Resort. Quickly after turning you will turn right just past the Dunes Marketing Building on the right to pick up your gate passes. After receiving your pass turn right and stay right when you hit a roundabout and head towards the North Gate signs. Right after passing through the North Gate, turn right over a white bridge onto Carnoustie Road. Continue to follow Carnoustie all the way until it dead ends and turn right into the Inverness Village Community. You will go over a bridge (great views!) and make your first right. From I-95 North/South
Traveling I-95, take Exit 8 -- Hilton Head Island/Bluffton.
Follow signs for Hilton Head Island and Route 278 East. Cross over the Hilton Head Island Bridge and continue straight on Route 278 East BUSINESS (William Hilton Parkway).After approx. 8 miles (approx. 10 traffic lights after bridge), turn left into the Palmetto Dunes Resort and follow the road straight in to the Pass Office which will be on your right approx. 03 miles in.From Savannah International Airport (approx. one hour)
Leaving airport, take Airways Avenue West to I-95 North.
Travel I-95 north approx. 12 miles to South Carolina Exit 8 -- Hilton Head Island/Bluffton.
Cross over the Hilton Head Island Bridge and continue straight on Route 278 East BUSINESS (William Hilton Parkway). After approx. 8 miles (approx. 10 traffic lights after bridge), turn left into the Palmetto Dunes Resort and follow the road straight in to the Pass Office which will be on your right approx. .03 miles in.From Charleston International Airport (approx. two hours)
Leaving airport, take International Blvd. East to W. Montague Ave. (.01 miles)
Turn right onto W. Montague Ave. (.08 miles) Merge onto I-526 W via the ramp on the left toward Savannah. (5.4 miles) Turn Right onto Savannah Hwy/US-17 South. (56.8 miles) US-17 becomes a ramp. (.01 miles) Merge onto I-95 South. (24.3 miles)
Take Exit 8—Hilton Head Island/Bluffton. Leaving Charleston, take Route 17 South. Follow Route 21 through Beaufort.Turn right onto Route 170 (at a traffic light).After approx. 4 miles, turn right onto Route 278 toward Hilton Head Island. Drive eight miles to the bridge. Cross over the Hilton Head Island Bridge and continue straight on Route 278 East BUSINESS (William Hilton Parkway). After approx. 8 miles (approx. 10 traffic lights after bridge), turn left into the Palmetto Dunes Resort and follow the road straight in to the Pass Office which will be on your right approx. .03 miles in.From Hilton Head Island Airport (approx. 15 minutes)
Take a left out of the airport terminal onto Beach City Road. Turn left onto Matthews Drive. At traffic light, turn left onto Route 278. Follow Route 278 to the light at Palmetto Dunes Resort and follow the road straight in to the Pass office which will be on your right approx. .03 miles in.
